Then, Reverend Martin dies before whether he was lucid/ sane or not was answered. The reverend accidentally murdered Elisa instead of Hannah, his intent. Switching topics, all the reveals were fantastic! For example, Hoppo was the one who slipped something in Mickey’s drink which caused the accident, leaving Fat Gav in a wheelchair. Readers are slowly introduced to the friend group, which reminded me a little of Stephen King’s IT – Nikki is totally Beverly, though. In other words, I wasn’t scared, and it didn’t pull me in and keep me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t get enough creepy or anxious vibes. I enjoyed all the twists and reveals at the end there, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet the expectations of a thriller. Honestly, it’s a pretty decent mystery novel. Old friends are delivered drawings of a chalk man, the signature of their small-town killer from their youth. The Chalk Man is told in two timelines: present and past. ![]() Sadly, the book itself was a bit of a letdown. The narrator was good, so audio is a solid way to consume the story. ![]() I eventually bought a copy on Bookoutlet, but I didn’t get around to reading it until I borrowed the audiobook on my library app. Almost all the booktubers I follow have read and enjoyed it, which piqued my interest.
